Fourth Generation: 2019-Current Model
What do drivers like about the fourth-generation used Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
The latest rendition of these full-size trucks is roomier and more powerful, which means you can kick back in style while you haul your John Deere from one end of your property to the other. Properly equipped, this hearty truck can tow 12,200 pounds' worth of family camper or quadruple horse trailer.
Besides accommodating longer legs, this Silverado cabin is up with the times. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard, so you can make hands-free calls and texts if you absolutely must. The fourth-gen used Silverado is an accommodating truck, brightening any workday with loads of in-bed tie-down points and massive hauling capabilities (up to 2,500 pounds).
What changed during this generation's run?
Nothing yet - but it's too soon to tell, really. Check back after this generation has been around longer.
Third Generation: 2014-2018
What do drivers like about the third-generation used Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
For starters, this truck's base engine is a zero-to-hero improvement over the one from the previous generation, with a 90-horsepower increase for a total of 285 horses. If you don't want to spend a lot on your used Silverado, but still have work that needs doing, this engine is a good option. Compared to the previous generation, the 5.3-liter V8 (355 horses) and 6.2-liter V8 (420 horses) are also upgrades.
As per usual, these Silverados offer regular, extended, and crew cabins and three different bed lengths. Whether you're in need of an 8-foot bed to haul building supplies or a 5.75-foot bed to compliment your Silverado's big crew cabin, these trucks have something for everyone.
What changed during this generation's run?
This generation was a short one, so no big changes will take you by surprise.
Second Generation: 2007-2013
What do drivers like about the second-generation used Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
Drivers like getting a capable truck at a great used price, for starters. Shopping this generation is simple, because you'll find the same three cabin options as later generations and just four trims - the Work Truck, LS, LT, and LTZ. Mid-level models, which were better equipped with convenience features, tended to be popular, so you can expect to see more of them on the used lot.
What changed during this generation's run?
If you're looking to maximize power, you'll find two different high-end engine options on this used Chevrolet Silverado 1500. At the beginning of this generation, the Silverado had the most muscle with a 367-horsepower 6.0-liter V8. But that engine was replaced in 2009 with the 6.2-liter V8 engine. It boosts capability with 403 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque.
