What’s new for the 2022 GMC Acadia?
Compared to the previous model year, the latest Acadia has a few alterations. For starters, this three-row midsize SUV now comes standard with all the safety aids of the GMC Pro Safety Plus package, including:
- Forward collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking
- Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
- Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
- Front and rear parking sensors
And this new Acadia also does away with the base SL model and its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, making the SLE the new entry-level trim model.
Which 2022 GMC Acadia should I choose?
This three-row crossover is a favorite among people-persons, with six or seven available seats (depending on whether or not you select second-row captain’s chairs or the available bench seat). And four trim levels offer a range of available features (as well as a range of price tags).
The entry level SLE (starting at $34,800) gives you a great deal on a modern ride. This Acadia is handsomely equipped with desirable features, from wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone infotainment integration to tri-zone automatic climate control. Five USB ports keep everybody’s devices charged on the go.
With the SLT, you’ll enjoy greater utility. Sporty roof rails help secure your sports and camping gear. The hands-free liftgate provides quick, convenient access to your cargo. Inside, leather upholstery and heated front seats improve your comfort.
Then there’s the Acadia AT4, which is specially designed to improve off-road performance. It comes standard with a more powerful engine, all-terrain tires, hill hold assist, and hill descent control to help you navigate the trail.
Finally, for those who love luxury, there’s the Acadia Denali. With its 20-inch wheels and flashy grille, this crossover is a stunner. Inside, you’ll find more to love, including heated and ventilated front seats with driver’s seat memory settings. Second-row passengers can also get cozy via heated seats. Tech upgrades include a wireless charging pad and an optional surround-view camera system.
Which powertrains are available for the 2022 GMC Acadia?
Depending on trim level, the Acadia offers one of two engines. Each of these three-row crossovers comes standard with front-wheel drive, but sporty all-wheel drive is available to help you take a tour off-road. All-wheel drive is optional for all but the off-road-ready AT4 trim model, where it’s standard equipment.
The base SLE and mid-level SLT comes standard with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that helps you achieve the Acadia’s best EPA ratings, up to 25 mpg combined (22 city/29 highway). Meanwhile, the sporty AT4 and luxurious Denali come standard with the more powerful V6 engine.
2022 Acadia powertrain options include:
