Now in its junior year, the 2020 GMC Terrain is safer than ever. Additional standard active safety features now include forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The downside is that the optional diesel engine is no longer available. But back on the upside, improved suspension on the top-tier Denali trim ensures a smoother ride.
Fuel Efficient
One of the hallmarks of the GMC Terrain and likely one of the reasons you’re looking at a compact SUV instead of one of its bigger siblings is its fuel efficiency. With the base engine, you’re looking at 26 city miles and 30 highway miles per gallon. That’s better than average even among compacts.
The front seats have a decent amount of head- and legroom and the seats are comfortable. But it’s the back seat that sets the GMC Terrain apart. Because of spacious rear legroom, two adults can comfortably relax back there. And three kids can sit just fine with very little opportunity to kick the back of the seat.
If you’re loading the 2020 GMC Terrain, you’ll find it knows how to take on almost any-sized package or luggage. While the Terrain might not have the largest cargo capacity by the numbers (29.6 with the seats in use and 63.3 with the folded down), thanks to a 60/40-split seat, stowing long and irregular-sized objects is no problem. On top of that, the seats fold flat and there’s a power liftgate. The numbers are a bit misleading because the Terrain is much more versatile in storage than they suggest.

Starting at just $25,000, the GMC Terrain is budget friendly while not skimping on features you want and love. Standard features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot, and six-speaker stereo.
GMC is also working hard to keep your whole crew safe with newly added standard safety features for 2020 that include forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and front pedestrian braking, along with the regulars like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, the Teen Driver system, rearview camera and automatic high-beam headlights.
