2018 GMC Canyon Engine Options and Towing Capabilities
he GMC Canyon offers three engine options for drivers depending on their chosen trim level. The first engine is a 2.5-liter I4 engine that reaches 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. The second engine available is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and the third engine option is a Duramax® 2.8-liter Turbo Diesel I4 engine which puts out 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
The 2.5-liter engine can tow up to 3,500 pounds, the 3.6-liter V6 engine can tow up to 7,000 pounds, and the Duramax® 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine can tow a maximum of 7,700 pounds. Models with a 2.5-liter engine offer a 4.10 rear axle ratio, while the 3.6-liter and 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine models have a 3.42 rear axle ratio.
